BD Manager - Corporate

For the New York Office of an International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with Corporate partners to help grow the U.S. M&A, Insurance, and Structured Finance practices and also work across several practice areas - including Banking & Finance and Capital Markets - to develop business and market in Latin America;
  • Support the practice area leader and other partners in developing business and client plans, including conducting financial analysis, producing tailored marketing strategies; conducting client and market research; matter reviews; etc.;
  • Develop pitches and capability statements; respond to RFPs in support of new and expanded business opportunities; look for cross-practice opportunities;
  • Using matter databases, manage submission process for Chambers, Legal 500 and IFLR directory listings (USA and Latin America), and arranging for partner interviews in support of the annual submissions; manage information for league tables;
  • Provide event-related support for SLA (Spanish Latin America) marketing initiatives and client briefings by Corporate partners;
  • Manage a BD Specialist responsible for providing BD and marketing support to the Corporate and Capital Markets practices, as well as leading the Firm's formal Matter Capture process for Corporate.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA a plus; Spanish language skills strongly desired; Portuguese language skills an added plus;
  • 6+ years of BD/marketing experience in a law firm or professional services firm and prior management experience required;
  • Ability to build trust with partners by demonstrating a consultative, collaborative approach, excellent oral and written communication skills, and an understanding of our clients' commercial objectives and the marketplace;
  • A proactive, can-do manner and ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing needs;
  • Strong analytical skills; familiarity with technology critical to the role;
  • Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team; ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels and across global offices.
