BD Manager

For the Washington DC Office of an International Law Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the implementation of BD strategies and marketing initiatives for the Firm's Life Sciences and FDA Healthcare, White Collar, Global Anti-Corruption and Tax practice groups;
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Practice Groups and the Marketing Department;
  • Strategically assist Practice Groups in creating and implementing their marketing and BD plans, including developing targeted approaches for business development through presentations, pitches and proposals, events and other visibility-raising activities;
  • Regularly audit practice descriptions and collaborate with the marketing managers and attorneys to develop/update practice descriptions and other BD materials, as well as working with individual attorneys on drafting/refining their biographies.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree required; 7+ years of marketing or related experience in a law firm or professional services industry; Masters or J.D. degree useful;
  • Knowledge in the following practice groups preferred: Life Sciences and FDA Healthcare, White Collar and Tax; and experience in budget planning and management;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, persuasive writing skills for presentations, proposals and other marketing materials;
  • Outstanding organizational skills with attention to detail; able to handle many projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines and remaining calm under pressure;
  • Able to work independently as well as a member of a team;
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including databases, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as experience with key research tools (Lexis, Westlaw and others).
