Alumni Relations Manager

For the New York Office of a Premier International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the Director of Alumni Relations to set, guide and execute the Firm's alumni relations and BD goals, leverage alumni relationships, and ensure that the Firm's vision and messaging are incorporated into alumni initiatives;
  • Promote the alumni program internally and externally by increasing the program's visibility through the organization of alumni events (including CLE seminars, webinars, etc.), incorporating both current and former attorneys;
  • Establish and maintain long term relationships with a wide range of alumni locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, through regular communication via direct contact, e-mail blasts, alumni webpages and print publications;
  • Manage the alumni database and Alumni Directory to ensure accurate and complete records of contact, biographical and career information of alumni; track business development and recruitment generated by alumni;
  • Orient departing lawyers to the alumni program and familiarize them with programming;
  • Project manage the Firm's alumni website, with over 3,100 registered members including: managing the vendor relationship, content and communications; overseeing product upgrades and other technical requirements.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree, Graduate degree and foreign language preferred; 7+ years of relevant and in-depth experience leading alumni programs in a professional service environment;
  • Experience with all aspects of planning and implementation of events in alumni relations and communications; sensitivity to deadlines; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under time pressure;
  • Excellent and persuasive oral and written communication, presentation and consensus building skills;
  • High emotional intelligence and proven ability to understand and to navigate a professional service partnership and a strong customer service focus; able to act with discretion, professionalism, tact and courtesy in handling sensitive and complex matters;
  • Strategic thinking with highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail; comfort with numbers;
  • Executive presence demonstrating confidence, credible and proactive approach; ability to act as an advisor to, and collaborate with, colleagues in other departments and at all levels at the Firm.
