Communications Manager

For the New York Office of a Large, Global Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Firm's PR agency, helping to shape PR strategy; write and distribute press releases and deal announcements; support the communication of financial results; and assist with press-related events;
  • Help identify emerging market trends; devise and develop research projects and media relations campaigns to help grow the Firm's reputation in key media; evaluate and monitor performance on an ongoing basis;
  • Supervise the Firm's US awards process, and coordinate the compilation and submission of US Legal 500, Chambers Global, and other legal directories submissions and awards;
  • Provide advise to practice group leaders and BD managers on awards, sponsorship, advertising, editorial and advertorial proposals;
  • Manage the Firm's website and digital presence; this includes providing day-to-day user support, repurposing existing marketing communications content for use online; and maintain an editorial plan for the Firm's US website section;
  • Manage local social media accounts (LinkedIn, Twitter and others as appropriate) and develop social content for use by partners.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree; 7+ years' experience in corporate communications, with a substantial portion directly engaged in communications/media relations/PR in a corporate professional/financial services or agency environment;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to relate sophisticated information and concepts about current business/legal issues in plain English, are a must;
  • Experience in producing content for, and managing, digital channels;
  • Proven ability to manage numerous issues and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-visibility work environment;
  • A track record of collaborating in a team-oriented environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and become a sought-after resource for communications advice and counsel by partners, managers, colleagues, and media contacts.
