Manager, BD & Marketing - Labor & Employment

For the New York Office of an International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans for Labor & Employment practice teams and local offices;
  • Research and analyze information on regional markets, industries, and target clients to identify business development opportunities;
  • Support business development pitches, requests for proposals (RFPs), and presentations, from initial strategy development through drafting, review, and production of deliverables;
  • Conceptualize, plan, and manage external and internal events related to client educational forums, webinars, sponsorships, social events, or other networking programs for the practice group and local offices;
  • Collaborate with practice group management, lawyers, and the Firm PR team to identify and pursue PR and thought leadership opportunities;
  • Develop and update external and internal marketing materials, communications, and presentations; provide support to submissions/awards process.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree, 7 + years experience in business development, marketing, with solid experience leading projects and project teams; demonstrated strategic planning experience; law firm or professional services preferred;
  • Strong supervisory skills: lead by example, set direction and priorities, resolve internal staff issues, delegate as appropriate, set clear expectations and provide timely feedback on work product, regularly coach and evaluate staff performance;
  • Excellent communication skills; a client service mentality and the ability to speak effectively with personnel at all levels of the Firm;
  • Excellent writing sills, with a demonstrated ability to write business correspondence, pitches, proposals, and reports;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands;
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility in order to manage a busy workload and occasional business travel; able to work independently as well as manage projects and assignments in a collaborative team environment.
