Events Manager

For the DC Office of a Global Economic Consulting Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design exceptional attendee experiences and manage all aspects of events to maximize BD potential, from planning and development to execution and post-event follow-up; maintain the firm-wide calendar of events and related content on the firm's website;
  • Create and manage budgets of varying sizes, tracking and demonstrating ROI and preparing quarterly and annual department reports for key stakeholders; utilize data from past events to enact changes to improve future results;
  • Negotiate contracts for venues, caterers, etc.; build and maintain an international network of event planners and third-party resources; be the main point of contact between firm and trade organizations, conference organizers, etc.;
  • Research, solicit proposals from, and conduct site visits and inspections of potential event properties and prepare visual presentations and/or cost-comparison spreadsheets;
  • Use the firm's CRM and marketing systems to run reports, manage lists, and track RSVPs, distribution, attendance, follow-up, etc.;
  • Work with organizations that approve CLE, CDP, and other professional education credits for course accreditation.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree; 5+ years of relevant events experience, preferably in a professional services environment; broad and thorough knowledge of corporate events planning;
  • Client service mentality and a professional presence; ability to bring a strategic mindset to events and identify the business case for participation in events, sponsorships, etc.;
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to handle tight deadlines and perform multiple tasks simultaneously as priorities shift; ability to find creative solutions and drive projects to completion;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and also work effectively with a team and professionals at all levels; experience working with an international team;
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally and work some flexible hours when necessary;
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite required; familiarity with website content management (CMS), client relationship management (CRM), and email marketing systems preferred.
