Professional Development Manager - Corporate
For the New York Office of a Highly Regarded Global Law FirmThis is a filled position.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with Corporate Department leaders and liaise between associates and Partners to maximize attorney retention and productivity;
- Help new associates and lateral hires integrate into the department, including participation and assistance with the annual New Associate Orientation Program;
- Provide career guidance and coaching; keep Partners aware of associate morale and training needs; oversee professional development and mentoring, and track associate experiences and competencies;
- Liaise with the Director of Practice Management and the Professional Evaluation and Compensation Committee (PECC) for the Firm's evaluation process; gather and analyze continuous feedback for associates submitted throughout the year;
- Liaise with the Director of Practice Management and practice group heads to monitor all aspects of performance management; work with regional offices regarding associate availability, work flow and PD opportunities;
- Work closely with heads of diversity and practice group to ensure diversity and inclusion of the department.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree; 4+ years of relevant legal experience; JD preferred or strong familiarity working with corporate lawyers in a large law firm environment;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Self-starter who is highly persistent in overseeing projects to successful completion;
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with various administrative groups and to work closely with lawyers of all levels within a large law firm setting;
- Strong follow-up and prioritization skills;
- Excellent listening skills; strong diplomatic and influencing skills.
