BD Manager - Litigation, Real Estate

For the San Francisco or Los Angeles Office of an Innovative Mid-Sized Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement effective marketing and BD plans for the Litigation, Real Estate and Eminent Domain practice groups and individual attorneys; oversee budgets to support the initiatives outlined in these plans;
  • Coach and train attorneys about BD and marketing strategies and best practices; play a key role in lateral integration;
  • Conduct client satisfaction interviews and develop client service improvement programs;
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Events and Communications Teams to identify and assess BD and marketing opportunities such as sponsorships, events, organization memberships, awards and honors, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the creation of targeted, well-written marketing materials, obtain and analyze competitive intelligence research, and submit winning proposal/pitch/presentation materials;
  • Broadcast best practices and cross-selling opportunities across practice and industry groups and offices.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree; JD or MBA preferred; 7+ years of BD experience in a leadership position in professional services;
  • Law firm experience required; Legal substantive knowledge of litigation, real estate, and land use is preferred;
  • Proven ability to develop and administer successful BD and client service programs;
  • Strong strategy development, critical thinking, creativity, writing and general business skills, as well as excellent managerial and communication skills;
  • Anticipate and solve problems as they arise and implement effective conflict resolution; handle a heavy workload, competing priorities and multi-task effectively;
  • Motivate and manage attorneys and staff; orchestrate change using diplomacy and persuasion.
