Business Development Director - Litigation
For the New York Office of a Prestigious, Global Law FirmThis is a filled position.
Responsibilities include:
- Build strong relationships between litigation Partners and the Firm's BD Department; develop strong relationships with colleagues to identify and maximize cross-selling opportunities; coach and train lawyers to achieve BD objectives;
- Organize BD initiatives, including maintaining project lists and plans and demonstrating measurable results that achieve set goals; connect Partners with clients and prospects through events, sponsorships, speaking engagements, etc.;
- Oversee the development of BD plans to execute litigation strategic priorities, including those specific to practice groups, geographies, client teams, industry groups and individual Partners;
- Collaborate with Firm leadership to enhance the positioning and messaging of the Department; refine BD tactics and profile raising activities to obtain the greatest return on investment for the Firm; monitor marketplace developments and competitors;
- Oversee the maintenance of Firm databases and materials utilized for marketing, clients and BD, pitches and proposals, public relations, award submissions, etc.; coordinate the Firm's proposal and pitch efforts;
- Hire, develop and manage the BD personnel, in all offices, assigned to support Litigation; oversee day-to-day BD/Marketing activities for the Litigation Department.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree required; MA or JD preferred; 12+ years of experience in a successful BD or marketing role in a Law Firm; experience working with litigators or litigation practices is required;
- Knowledge of the U.S. and global corporate and business landscape, including important regulatory regimes, key market players and organizations, issues, trends and developments;
- Well organized with a meticulous attention to detail; ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities and time-sensitive deadlines;
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and the ability to work with confidential matters; focused on execution and achieving measurable results through superior project and team management skills;
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, oral and presentation skills; strong analytical skills;
- A pro-active and outgoing personality, coupled with a strong customer service attitude; ability to work confidently and collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
