Business Development Director - Litigation

For the New York or Chicago Office of an International Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify strategies and opportunities for expanding client relationships and drive the development and implementation of strategic plans at the practice group levels;
  • Develop a deep understanding of the practices strengths and market differentiators, including their client base and key market trends; recommend tactical marketing and BD plans to effectively utilize market data in support of BD efforts;
  • Ensure consistent implementation of key initiatives and recommend strategies to cross-sell to adjacency practice areas, and collaborate with the Firm's client services; direct go-to-market product strategies to support priorities;
  • Ensure the utilization of Firm-wide BD protocols, particularly in the area of RFPs, pitches, and other client outreach efforts; oversee tracking and reporting on key BD efforts;
  • Collaborate with the Firm-wide marketing and communications team to ensure consistent messaging of practice group strengths in written materials, including website content;
  • Ensure the BD team is collaborating on key infrastructure improvement projects, including knowledge management and other key technology initiatives.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree; 10+ years of experience in marketing or BD required;
  • Professional services background with strong BD experience;
  • Previous supervisory experience required;
  • Highly organized and self-directed with the ability to make decisions and adapt to changing work situations effectively;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Ability to travel for occasional business related activities.
