US Senior Public Relations Manager

For the New York Office of a Magic Circle Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Partners to project the Firm's vision, and to raise the Firm's profile and key individuals in relevant practice areas reflecting new investments, emerging sector priorities and growth opportunities;
  • Manage and implement an agreed PR plan for the Firm's Practice Groups, Sectors and markets; provide expert PR input to global practice groups and support tactical delivery of PR actions;
  • Develop good working relationships with key business and legal journalists in key markets, most notably in London but also across Asia, the US, and continental Europe;
  • Review and widen the Firm's media approach to cover a wider range of digital channels, and develop new processes and guidelines as needed around use of social media; monitor PR activity and results regularly;
  • Support a range of activities designed to promote our position as employer of choice among key talent audiences; work to widen Partner engagement in PR, and ensure that we maintain a view to building reputation for upcoming talent in our practice;
  • Maintain contacts with and engage outside agency support when needed; work as part of a global team ensuring consistency and coherence in how the Firm is positioned.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree; 8+ years of experience in a global, matrixed organization; experience of managing third party PR agency relationships; cross-cultural skills needed to work in a global team;
  • Experience in managing content development for thought leadership campaigns;
  • Strong project management skills and ability to deliver to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; high level of accuracy and attention to detail; gravitas and professional credibility;
  • Proactive, initiative taker and self-starter; strong personal presence; able to confidently influence decisions and work well with people in consultative mode;
  • Ability to represent the Firm externally with a range of audiences, including media.
