Legal Personnel Manager
For the New York Office of a Very Successful Wall Street FirmThis is a filled position.
Responsibilities include:
- Support the Director in handling all daily challenges and requests relating to attorneys and attorney employment in the NY Office;
- Manage processes related to Associate and Special Counsel employment, including hiring procedures, I-9 records, attorney vacation report records and payroll action forms;
- Manage orientation process for lateral Special Counsel and Associate hires and provide support in connection with partner and incoming first-year Associate onboarding;
- Provide support and assistance to the Director in connection with the annual attorney performance appraisal process for the antitrust, bankruptcy, executive compensation & employee benefits, tax and trusts & estates departments;
- Manage all pre-employment administrative matters and communications with incoming entry-level Associates, including bar exam registration and logistics; bar review course registration, credential verification and background check procedures;
- Work with the team to develop and maintain comprehensive Attorney Manual; manage compliance with policies; respond to inquiries about the application of policies to specific situations.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degree in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Development preferred;
- 5+ years of experience;
- Ability deal with multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously while maintaining exemplary interpersonal skills;
- Ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, all levels of administrative staff and contacts outside the Firm both verbally and in writing;
- Strong problem-solving skills and independent judgement;
- Flexible and accommodating to the demands of the Firm's attorneys and the needs of the department.
