Director of Professional Development and Training

For the New York Office of a Highly Regarded Global Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, oversee and implement all professional development programs, including Mentoring, Associate Development Goals, CLE Training and New Associate Orientation;
  • Manage the PD Team in New York and direct all initiatives;
  • Manage CLE and skills training for Attorneys, including development and implementation of legal skills training programs and non-legal skills initiatives;
  • Manage the mentoring program, including developing policies, monitoring participation, mentoring assignments and coordinating mentoring activities and events;
  • Oversee the development and implementation of special projects designed to improve professional development and the environment of associates, partners and counsel;
  • Maintain the PD website, including CLE and training resources and opportunities, as well as marketing initiatives; manage the PD budget and ensure that PD initiatives are on point with budgetary constraints and allocated expenses.

Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience in organizational development, or professional training and development, at a large law firm; JD strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability and experience successfully leading a team;
  • Excellent consultative and consensus-building skills in working with Partners and Senior Attorneys;
  • Strong writing, presentation and organizational skills;
  • Team played with a strong client-service orientation;
  • Proven creativity, conceptual skills development and resourcefulness, as well as demonstrated experience effecting organizational initiatives and vision.
