Learning & Development Manager

For the Connecticut Office of a Boutique Mid-Sized International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as an advisor on all matters related to learning and development for all employees throughout the US offices; maintain visibility throughout the Firm to promote the value of L&D and develop strong relationships across all departments;
  • Provide one-on-one career coaching support where required; monitor all externally delivered training and coaching to ensure quality;
  • Work with and support the US Training Partners to manage the technical training program for all attorneys; identify key technical skills required as part of the new legal skills syllabus and manage the implementation of associated training programs;
  • Oversee and help deliver the induction program for First Year Associates;
  • Supervise the CLE reporting for all US attorneys and ensure compliance with all relevant Bar requirements, processes and procedures;
  • Maintain the annual L&D budget for the US offices by managing expenditures, reporting on budget variances on all relevant budget codes, and supporting the US Training Partners in managing technical training budget codes.

Qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of management-level Learning & Development experience in a law firm; JD strongly preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; ability to establish credibility with and influence all levels of individuals;
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to remain flexible and manage a number of projects at once;
  • Commercial approach with a strong client-service focus;
  • Experience in training, design and delivery;
  • Coaching qualification, Myers Briggs Type Inventory qualification, and/or other learning/psychometric qualifications a plus.
