PR Manager

For the New York Office of an International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Firm's PR and media efforts by creating and implementing PR initiatives for the firm as a whole, for practice groups and for each office; coordinate with the outside PR firm as necessary;
  • Identify and coordinate PR opportunities (interviews, speeches, articles, etc.) for the Firm and its lawyers to receive positive coverage in top-tier business and financial media, and provide counsel on message points and interview tactics;
  • Coordinate the Firm's internal messaging and communications efforts (e.g. draft, edit, issue and pitch firm press releases; contribute content and ideas to employee newsletters; and prepare materials for key presentations and draft internal memos);
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for all media inquiries; this includes managing the Firm's responses to surveys and nominations for awards, securing accolades and rankings for the Firm, its practices, and its lawyers;
  • Administer submissions for Chambers, Legal 500 and other important rankings and directories;
  • Oversee some aspects of the Firm's website content, assist with the launch of the Firm's blog, help develop the Firm's social media policies, and enhance the Firm's brand and positioning.

Qualifications include:

  • BA and 5+ years of experience in a PR or media environment, experience in a law or professional service firm preferred;
  • Able to identify and monitor trends in the legal industry and translate into PR opportunities;
  • Demonstrate experience writing and/or editing press releases, announcements and similar materials;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills;
  • Experience in and working knowledge of the press and print media;
  • Strong attention to detail, with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
