Business Development Manager

For the DC Office of a Well-Respected Regional Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Director of BD on the development of a comprehensive strategy for assigned practice areas; identify business development opportunities, coordinate attorney teams to pitch new business, and drive opportunities from concept to execution;
  • Collaborate with attorneys to expand business development efforts including contributing to annual business plans and assisting partners with the implementation and execution of such plans, tracking initiatives and outcomes;
  • Manage the practices’ responses to RFPs – drafting responses, coordinating attorney teams and tracking language and outcomes;
  • Manage submissions and nominations to industry directories including Chambers and Legal 500 US; draft and submit submissions and references and leverage rankings in business development materials;
  • Conduct industry research and develop knowledge about firm clients and industries; oversee client and market research and analysis, including researching litigation, corporate and individual profiles;
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to staff, including on-going performance management, feedback and coaching, identification of training opportunities, and preparation of career development plans.

Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of marketing and business development experience, with 5+ years of prior law firm experience preferred;
  • Previous supervisory experience required (either formal or informal);
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize/coordinate deadlines and track progress of tasks;
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to supervise, lead and motivate a team;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials;
  • The ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both in oral and written form.
Salary: $140-160k
