Business Development Manager

For the New York Office of a National Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Help develop and execute group marketing/business development strategies, plans and projects;
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating new business opportunities and targets, facilitating cross-selling initiatives, participating on client-specific target teams, maintaining sales pipeline, and supporting deal/case tracking;
  • Support all group RFP/RFI/Proposal/Pitch opportunities; Develop and manage the group business development and marketing budget(s);
  • Coordinate and manage group events, sponsorship activities, advertisements, speaking engagements, etc., in conjunction with the firm’s Events Specialists;
  • Work with the Public Relations Group to secure effective exposure in the media for the group, its leading attorneys and accomplishments;
  • Coach attorneys on successful business development strategies/techniques.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Business; MBA preferred;
  • 7+ years marketing, business development, promotion, or related experience; Law firm or professional services experience preferred; Previous external media relations experience is a plus;
  • Flexible and organized with the ability to deal with many different personalities, multiple demands, and the pressure of meeting deadlines;
  • An insatiable intellectual curiosity and a desire to become completely immersed; Clear understanding of client service and working as a member of a team;
  • Strong computer proficiency a must, with particular knowledge of InterAction, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and a variety of leading edge competitive and business intelligence tools;
  • Strong work ethic and equally strong sense of humor; Strong writing, proofreading and verbal communication skills.
