Practice Development Manager - Energy, Project Finance
For the New York Office of an International Law FirmThis is a filled position.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop strategic practice business plans, for regional sections, practice groups and industry groups; identify and focus resources on strategic clients of the practice, including developing specific client service plans;
- Stay up to date on practices, lawyers, clients/prospects and the marketplace to incorporate into bios, deal lists, league tables, client contacts and brochures; supervise/maintain practice group deal descriptions in the firm matter database;
- Identify growth product and industry areas relevant to the practice; draft client-focused pitches/proposals and create standardized language for proposals; draft rankings and awards submissions;
- Recommend strategies/tactics (e.g. events, seminars, speaking or writing opportunities) that will support the different partners' practices and their objectives and also the regional section;
- Develop relationships across business development, media and communications teams globally; identify best practices across the network to help implement;
- Identify topics for lawyer-authored articles and speeches; help development of thought leadership and client alert pieces.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in a marketing-related field; advanced degree, JD or MBA a plus; experienced
- Strong strategic BD focus; self-starting, motivated and entrepreneurial; a team player with the ability to work hands-on;
- Strong strategic writing skills; ability to inspire confidence in lawyers and help them to prioritize to achieve their strategic and financial objectives; ability to make judgment calls and drive projects forward;
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task/prioritize and work in a high-pressure, deadline driven environment;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work at all levels;
- Experience at/with financial institutions and/or with CRM initiatives a plus, as well as a solid understanding of the NY and international structured finance, project finance, utilities, energy, shipping, asset finance and/or leasing markets.
