Sr. BD Manager - Litigation, Real Estate

For the New York Office of an International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work directly with litigation and real estate attorneys on group/individual BD plans, including utilizing market research, developing strategies for new clients, identifying cross-selling opportunities for existing clients, developing progress metrics;
  • Assist attorneys with pitch meetings to clients/prospects, including: holding briefing discussions; conducting market, industry and client research, RFIs/RFPs, preparing pitch materials, rehearsing pitch teams, supporting follow-up and debrief activities;
  • Develop and maintain practice group marketing collaterals; ensure updates of practice descriptions and biographies; contribute to team maintenance of online reporting system;
  • Work with Communications team to provide guidance to enhance attorney's visibility in industry platforms; execute BD information sessions;
  • Responsible for managing and mentoring all members of the Litigation and Real Estate BD team and coordinating with all other BD groups on various initiatives;
  • Work actively with practice group managers planning projects as needed, including practice group business planning; develop relationships with accounting, attorney development and recruiting and liaise as needed.

Qualifications include:

  • B.A. or B.S. required, advanced degree/JD preferred; Minimum of 6 years of marketing experience focused on BD for targeting clients;
  • Ideal candidate will have practiced law (litigation) for 4+ years and have prior involvement in business planning, BD/marketing activities;
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and team-management skills, including outstanding project management and staff supervisory skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills plus exceptional interpersonal skills; projects strong image and presence that engenders confidence from Firm management and attorneys;
  • Works with a high level of energy, creativity and orientation towards value-add results; desire to be proactive and highly responsive at all times; ability to work under pressure and maintains professional demeanor at all times;
  • Demonstrated experience and facility with marketing IT, including website, intranet, extranets, databases, knowledge management tools, presentation software, etc.
