Marketing and Business Development Director
For the Chicago Office of a Sophisticated Regional FirmResponsibilities include:
- Develop and implement strategy to increase the Firm's brand identity and support the Firm's overall strategic plan; stay abreast of business and legal developments and trends in law firm marketing;
- Work with Partners to develop and implement annual marketing and BD plan for the Firm and for individual practice groups; oversee BD activites, including assisting attorneys in developing business plans, client presentations, meetings, etc.;
- Oversee RFP process including writing proposals for new business; participate in planning and presentation sessions; assist practice groups in the creation of BD initiatives and identify opportunities through market research;
- Oversee all PR activities, including developing strategic goals with the Firm's leadership; direct the Firm's PR company on strategy and implementation of Firm communication, including crisis communication and reputation management;
- Oversee the execution of online and print communications, including brochure content, website copy, press releases, client alerts, internal and external newsletters, etc.; manage electronic marketing efforts and implement a strategic social media plan;
- Oversee the planning of client seminars, Firm-sponsored events, and client appreciation events; plan training seminars for attorneys; plan the marketing operations budget; manage staff.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications or related field; MBA is a plus; 7+ years of marketing management experience in a law firm;
- Strong leadership and strategic planning experience; proven track record in developing and administering a marketing and BD program;
- Self-starter with strong creative problem solving and analytical skills; excellent team management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Firm leadership;
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks under time constraints; excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong client service orientation, proactive and resilient.
