US Events Manager
For the New York Office of a Magic Circle FirmThis is a filled position.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan, generate ideas for, and manage a substantial program of corporate hospitality activities and client events and ensure that they are executed to the highest possible standards;
- Ensure events arranged are consistent with the Firm's positioning and corporate objectives, work with BD and the partnership on strategic planning to achieve this;
- Research cost, conduct venue searches and feasibility studies, negotiate with suppliers and present proposals; recommend and book sports and/or arts events, or tailor unique events, to meet client entertainment objectives;
- Fully manage local practice and sector group conferences to include establishing the initial brief, venue contracting, client, venue and delegate liaison, on-site event management, through to cost reconciliation;
- Maintain event bookings with partner organizations to ensure the Firm maximizes benefits made available through memberships; purchase events merchandise; conduct post-event evaluations and report findings;
- Track new venues and ideas for corporate entertainment and conference organization to ensure programs remain leading edge; conduct site visits and establish relationships with venues and travel to attend and manage events as appropriate.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree; 5+ years of experience working in an international business environment;
- Experience of working with multi-location teams; proven event management experience, including conferences; proven track record of successful client relationship management;
- Good working knowledge of suitable venues, in NY and Washington D.C.;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen, clarify and share information easily; strong research and organizational skills;
- Ability to build strong working relationships and to be able to persuade and influence a range of people, including Partners; decisive and mature in judgement;
- Ability to lead in a high pressure environment with a focus on results; resilient and able to remain calm and positive under pressure; ability to solve complex issues taking a proactive approach.
