Attorney Learning and Development Manager

For the New York Office of a Large Prestigious Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attorney Learning and Development Manager will oversee all formal legal education and training programs for attorneys firm-wide;
  • Formalize the current training program structure and create an training brand that connotes best-in-class learning initiatives;
  • Work closely with practice group leaders and training partners to develop specific curricula based on the needs of each practice group, oversee the firm's CLE coordinator;
  • Identify opportunities for individual skills development and improvement following the annual review process, develop all firm-wide internal training programs, including substantive legal training;
  • Together with other PD managers and the Recruiting Department, assist the development and organization of summer and first year associate orientation and training programs;
  • Coordinate off-site development retreats for associates and special counsel.

Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years professional development experience in a professional services firm, 3+ years of experience as a learning and development manager in a law firm;
  • JD required, experience practicing in a large firm preferred;
  • Experience designing and implementing effective and comprehensive training initiatives and the ability to take ownership of projects and effectively delegate to junior team members as necessary;
  • Extensive knowledge of current trends and innovations in the legal professional development space;
  • Desire to work as part of a collaborative team and the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
