Director of BD & Marketing (Transactional)

For the Boston, New York or Philadelphia Office of an International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Formulate strategic business development and marketing initiatives for practice areas and the Firm;
  • Manage a team of business development and marketing professionals who support the Firm's transactional practices in Finance, Investment Management, Structured Transactions and Telecommunications, Media & Technology;
  • Communicate business development goals and strategies to Lawyers by identifying key sponsorships and coordinating with the Firm's PR team to build the profile of the practice;
  • Support Attorneys with RFPs and new business pitch responses;
  • Draft internal and external communications; manage mailing lists, contact lists and client profiles; update and maintain content on the corporate portion of the Firm's website;
  • Develop speaking and authorship opportunities with both professional and trade organizations.

Qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of experience in marketing, business or practice development; 5+ years in managing people and projects; graduate degree preferred;
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape challenging major national law firms with substantial corporate and transactional practices;
  • Ability to synthesize information into professional marketing communications;
  • Proficiency in the use of PowerPoint, spreadsheets and database applications;
  • Exceptional writing skills; demonstrated capacity to develop and implement strategic business plans;
  • Ability to project personal credibility, professionalism and a high degree of integrity among Firm management and clients.
