Public Relations Manager

For the New York Office of an International Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and implement strategic communications plans for the firm, individual areas of focus, practice groups and offices;
  • Identify internal and external PR opportunities with outside PR firms to achieve results that reflect and enhance the firm's brand and positioning;
  • Draft, edit, issue and press releases;
  • Gather, consolidate and track data, deadlines and results for legal nominations and submissions; write and edit key legal directory submissions and awards;
  • Coordinate the firm's internal communications efforts, prepare materials for key presentations to the partnership and drafting 'all personnel' memos on behalf of upper management;
  • Serve as a point of contact for media inquiries and, work with outside PR firms, actively assist lawyers with the placement of articles and expert commentary in media outlets, including print and online.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree; 5+ years of experience in a public relations or media environment; experience in a law or professional service firm preferred;
  • Ability to identify and monitor trends in the legal industry and translate into public relations opportunities;
  • Experience writing and/or editing press releases, announcements and similar materials;
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills;
  • Experience with the press and print media;
  • Sense of humor, resilience and desire to learn.
