Last week was filled with peak life experiences.
When I envision my ideal life, it is filled with deeply rewarding work and meaningful connections.
Last week I presented to summer associates in DC, Philly and NYC. I love new talent and am passionate about sharing the things that are vital for success in Big Law but not taught in law school with them, including:
- How to take ownership
- How to display a client service orientation
- How to manage your time
- How to establish well-being practices
The summer associates I presented to at Beveridge & Diamond, A&O Shearman, Dechert, Fox Rothschild, White & Case, and Linklaters were all exceptionally engaged! Working with each group and sharing actionable advice to help them launch successful careers was deeply rewarding.
In addition, last week I was invited to visit the Polish Embassy in DC with my son, Jacob Wisnik, who recently returned from Poland where he completed a year-long fellowship working with Holocaust survivors and Ukrainian refugees.
Adrian Chobart, Political Counselor at the Polish Embassy, read about my Polish-Jewish history on LinkedIn and reached out to invite us to the Embassy. The timing was perfect because I was coming to DC to present.
Jake and I met with Adrian and heard about all the incredible work he has been doing since he arrived four years ago to foster relationships with American Jews on behalf of the Polish government. Prior to World War II 10% of the population in Poland was Jewish.
My family was expelled from Poland by the Communist-led government in 1968 and our citizenship was stripped. Not until the wall fell and Poland became an independent and democratic country did I consider reclaiming my Polish citizenship and my family’s long history in Poland.
Visiting the Polish Embassy and hearing about the deep commitment today’s Polish government has made to restoring relations with Jewish Americans with Polish roots was very uplifting, especially during these challenging times.
The final part of my week that made it a peak life experience was having Jake travel with me as I delivered trainings at law firms. I got to introduce Jake to my clients, and he got to see the work I do up close. Although he’s heard about my work since he was little, he now got to witness the work I find so rewarding with clients I am deeply grateful to work with!
