Senior Manager of Professional Development and Training

For the DC office of a Very Successful DC Boutique Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, lead the implementation of the firm's professional development and training strategies for attorneys and business services professionals;
  • Oversee onboarding and integration process;
  • Implement and update competency models and benchmarks for use in performance reviews and career progression;
  • Work with internal and external training professionals, identify learning needs and implement programs;
  • Provide coaching to associates and directors, facilitating individual development plans and identifying outside resources to enhance attorney’s development;
  • Be a trusted advisor to associates and liaison to the Associates Committee.

Qualifications include:

  • 8+ years’ experience in Talent Management/Professional Development; Background in legal industry strongly preferred;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current best practices in development; Advanced degree or certification preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams of both direct and indirect reports;
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and influence at all levels within the firm and the ability to work with little supervision;
  • Understanding of adult learning theories and ability to leverage digital technology;
  • Strong computer skills required, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and familiarity of learning/performance management software.
