Marketing Communication and Proposal Specialist

For the Chicago Office of a Sophisticated Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Draft, compile, edit, and proofread the firm’s responses to RFPs, pitches, proposals and other new business opportunities, which includes working directly with attorneys and proactively recommending positioning and applicable experience;
  • Research, compile, catalog, and update the firm’s matter and experience database;
  • Draft business and industry award submissions for the firm, practice groups, and individual attorneys; write, review, and edit all firm legal directory submissions, working closely with attorneys on the content of their respective submissions;
  • Work with Business Development Manager and attorneys to develop, draft, produce and update marketing materials, including firm biographies, practice group descriptions, website content, and other external materials;
  • In conjunction with the firm’s public relations firm, assist attorneys with the drafting of articles in business and industry trade publications and other media, while also communication with the PR firm and monitoring media for published firm news;
  • Develop, draft, produce and update marketing materials, including firm biographies, practice group descriptions, website content, and other external materials.

Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of marketing or communications experience, preferably in a law firm setting; 2+ years of proposal and/or business writing experience in a professional service setting;
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills (including writing, grammar, spelling, proofreading, and attention to detail);
  • Significant experience with persuasive, professional writing including RFPs, new business proposals, press releases, and client-facing materials;
  • Self-starter, highly organized, detail-focused, and able to collaborate with attorneys at all levels in the firm;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and meet tight deadlines.
