Manager of Employee Relations

For the New York Office of a Prestigious Law Firm
This is a filled position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide employee relations services throughout the firm, with a focus on business professionals; Take a proactive and responsive approach to employee relations issues that supports a high-performance work environment;
  • Provide expert consultative and problem-solving services; independently resolve policy & practice inquiries, performance management, workplace accommodations, investigations, and other assigned cases;
  • Ensure compliance with employment policies and legal compliance including ADA, FMLA, Wage and Hour, Visa and Immigration Laws;
  • Supports the performance management process for both business professionals and attorneys, identify areas for continuous improvement, and implements changes; gather the appropriate feedback for and write performance reviews;
  • Advise and train managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies to anticipate and mitigate internal issues;
  • Advocate for diversity, equity, fairness and sense of belonging.

Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of human resources generalist experience in a professional services firm; 5+ years of management experience;
  • Demonstrated ability and track record of managing complex and sensitive performance and employee relations issues;
  • Outstanding listening skills, including the ability to discern nuance and demonstrate approachability and empathy;
  • Ability to approach issues with a balance of employee advocacy and risk management;
  • Objective, professional, discreet, and discerning in the escalation of issues;
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with all levels and types of employees;
Salary: $170k-$200k
