Practice Manager (Litigation)

For the DC Office of a Well-Respected Regional Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the overall workflow of professional staff within practice groups, including quality control, mentoring/coaching, performance management, and monitoring of case deadlines and projects;
  • Work with responsible partners to design and implement case/project management plans —including project staffing, deadline monitoring, filing support, and coordination of trial/hearing logistics;
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency through utilization of technology or improvement/establishment of standard processes; assist with the development of such solutions where appropriate, and once developed, embed best practices within the group;
  • Work with key stakeholders and relevant administrative departments to scope, plan, implement, and execute professional development programming to meet the needs of the practice group;
  • Develop an integration process for new associates and laterals to provide appropriate professional development, facilitate meeting key practice contacts, familiarize them with practice resources, and ease their transition into the firm;
  • Serve as knowledge management leader to organize and harness practice area resources, capabilities, experiences, exemplar documents, and other resources.

Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of experience in the law firm environment with progressing levels of responsibility throughout career required, trial experience very strongly preferred; JD or MBA preferred;
  • Prior management/supervisory experience required; practice management experience with litigation group strongly preferred;
  • Strong proficiency with technology, including: strong familiarity with e-filing systems, experience preferred with calendaring/docketing systems and document review/transcript management tools, strong aptitude for learning & evaluating software solutions
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships at various levels;
  • Well-developed, sophisticated analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills for team leadership and both external and internal communications.
Salary: $150-165k
