Head of Communications


Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with editors, publishers, and reporters, who cover the firm, the legal profession, or firm clients’ business sectors; proactively identify news, topics, and opportunities to drive media coverage;
  • Manage external PR agencies and other vendor relationships globally, to ensure and measure efficacy and value; manage firm, office, practice area, client team, industry group, and individual lawyer media relations efforts;
  • Advise firm leaders on ongoing communications opportunities, strategy, execution, and reputational issues and considerations;
  • Act as firm’s primary “crisis communications” executive, in coordination with the Director of Global Marketing and Business Development, firm leadership, and outside agencies, as appropriate;
  • Coach firm, practice, and office leadership, and individual lawyers and teams on media relations and presentation skills, including prepping for media interviews;
  • Partner within the Marketing Department and with other departments (Recruiting, Alumni Relations, Pro Bono, DEI) to coordinate and execute on key initiatives that align with firm strategy.

Qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of communications experience in a professional services industry required
  • Demonstrated expertise in media relations;
  • Must be proactive and take initiative;
  • Exhibit the executive presence necessary to command the respect and build trust of firm leadership;
  • Must have established relationships with relevant media, online and electronic newswire services, media tracking and Internet research resources;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and manage multiple projects concurrently, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
Salary: $275k
