Director of Attorney Professional Development

For the LA, NY, D.C., Chicago, or San Francisco Office of a Well-Respected Law Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and lead attorney training initiatives, mentorship programs, individualized learning plans, and leadership development pathways for attorneys at all levels;
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external consultants to support firmwide talent development, diversity initiatives, and cross-functional training goals;
  • Lead and manage a team of attorney development professionals, including budgeting, resource allocation, and performance oversight;
  • Collaborate with the performance management professional development team to ensure the firm's learning and development efforts to align to core competencies and promote professional growth;
  • Continuously research and integrate innovative training opportunities and industry best practices in legal professional development; regularly evaluate and refine programs to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the firm;
  • Maintain networks and in-depth knowledge of trends and developments in the attorney development field.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree required; JD strongly preferred;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in professional development, or 7 years with prior experience as a practicing attorney; law firm experience preferred;
  • Proven ability to design and deliver attorney-focused training and development programs;
  • Familiarity with learning technologies, including LMS platforms and virtual training tools;
  • Strong leadership, project management, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to align development initiatives with firm strategy and manage confidential information with discretion.
Salary: $200k-$250k
