Marketing & Business Development Director

For the Chicago Office of a Sophisticated Law Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of six, including two managers, across marketing and business development functions;
  • Develop and execute the department’s strategic plan aligned with the firm’s strategic plan; collaborate with the COO and firm leadership to identify growth opportunities and measure impact;
  • Oversee the end-to-end process for pitches, proposals, and RFPs, ensuring timely, strategic, and high-quality submissions; provide coaching and support to attorneys on client presentations and business development meetings;
  • Direct the firm’s PR strategy, including media relations, press releases, and external communications; ensure consistent messaging across all channels and platforms;
  • Manage client-facing programs such as client interviews, collaborative business growth dinners, and other client feedback initiatives; partner with attorneys to deepen client relationships and identify cross-marketing opportunities;
  • Lead the firm’s alumni engagement strategy, including communications, events, and relationship-building initiatives.

Qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of experience in legal or professional services marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred;
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and influence senior stakeholders;
  • Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills;
  • Deep understanding of professional services firm operations, client service, and business development best practices.
Salary: $230k
