Director of Business Development

For the New York Office of a Mid-Size International Law Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement firmwide and practice-specific business development strategies in partnership with firm leadership, practice leaders, and key partners.
  • Serve as a senior strategic advisor to partners on client development, industry initiatives, and revenue growth opportunities.
  • Lead the creation and execution of individual partner and practice group business development plans, including targeting, opportunity identification, and follow-through.
  • Oversee and evaluate business development investments, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, client objectives, and measurable return on investment.
  • Drive client expansion and cross-selling initiatives by supporting relationship partners in identifying and pursuing new matters and growth opportunities.
  • Manage and optimize business development infrastructure, including CRM usage, pipeline tracking, reporting, and performance metrics.

Qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of business development experience within a law firm or comparable professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting attorney-led sales processes, including targeting, pipeline management, pitch preparation, and conversion strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to help professional services teams pursue, pitch, and win new business through structured opportunity development and consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to influence, coach, and partner effectively with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Experience leveraging CRM systems and data to support pipeline management, reporting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with sound judgment and discretion.
Salary: $200k-$250k
