Legal Personnel and Development Manager
For the DC Office of an International Law FirmResponsibilities include:
- Collaborate with firm management on lawyer evaluation, retention, compensation, and promotion programs and processes in the DC office and ensure excellent delivery of services through the Career Advancement Program.
- Manage the semi-annual associate, senior associate and counsel review process, including working with partners to review feedback, facilitating delivery meetings, and following up with lawyers requiring coaching or training.
- Serve as the main point of contact in DC for attorney onboarding, integration, promotion, transfers, offboarding and outplacement programs and efforts.
- Oversee local team support of various committees, including the DC Parent’s Group and the Associates Committee Task Force. Participate in meetings with lawyers and contribute to achieving the committees' goals and objectives.
- Handle employee relations issues, serving as a resource and providing counsel, when appropriate, to all attorneys on personnel issues, leaves, career questions and employee relations matters.
- Create and manage the DC Legal Personnel and Development budget to ensure alignment with the firm’s strategic goals, objectives, and initiatives.
Qualifications include:
- 8+ years of relevant legal personnel, PD, or recruitment experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legal profession and law firm structures.
- Prior experience managing a team required.
- Proven ability to exercise discretion with confidential communications.
