Director of Marketing & Communications

For the New York Office of an International Law Firm

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute the firm’s overall marketing and communications strategy to strengthen brand positioning and enhance market visibility across key practice areas;
  • Lead the creation and distribution of high-impact content across multiple platforms, including the website, social media, internal communications channels, and marketing collateral;
  • Drive firmwide thought leadership initiatives by identifying speaking, writing, and conference opportunities that elevate attorney visibility and industry presence;
  • Manage relationships with external PR consultants and media outlets, coordinating press opportunities, interviews, and strategic media placements;
  • Oversee awards submissions, legal directory rankings, and other editorial initiatives that highlight firm achievements and reinforce competitive positioning;
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop communications team members, including performance management.

Qualifications include:

  • 15+ years of marketing or communications experience within a law firm or professional services environment;
  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills with the ability to translate complex legal topics into clear, compelling messaging;
  • Proven experience advising senior leadership and managing high-stakes communications, including reputational or crisis situations;
  • Strong track record of building relationships with national, legal, and industry media and driving successful PR initiatives;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic projects, influence stakeholders, and deliver measurable marketing outcomes;
  • Highly organized and strategic mindset with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritize competing deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Salary: $220k-$250k
