Lateral Associate Recruiting Manager
For the New York, Washington, D.C. or Chicago Office of a Global Law FirmResponsibilities include:
- Develop and execute tailored lateral associate recruiting strategies for corporate practice groups, working closely with practice, department, and office leadership to understand hiring needs.
- Lead lateral associate searches from initial planning and candidate identification through interviews, offers, and successful hiring.
- Serve as a strategic recruiting advisor by providing market intelligence, candidate insights, hiring trends, and practical guidance throughout the search process.
- Identify prospective lateral associate candidates through direct sourcing, attorney referrals, search firms, and other recruiting channels.
- Manage relationships with external search firms and vendors, including evaluating performance, negotiating fees, and improving recruiting processes.
- Manage and develop recruiting team members, delegate workflow, conduct performance evaluations, and prepare recruiting statistics and progress reports for key stakeholders.
Qualifications include:
- 7+ years of legal recruiting experience, preferably with significant responsibility for lateral associate recruiting; Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience managing, supervising, or developing others through direct people management or project leadership.
- Strong knowledge of lateral attorney recruiting and the ability to advise senior stakeholders on recruiting strategy and market dynamics.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Experience using recruiting data and market intelligence to identify trends, assess search progress, and support hiring decisions.
