June has been a deeply rewarding month with trainings for law firms in DC, Miami, Philly and Chicago.
The most rewarding part of my work is seeing candidates I placed at the beginning of their careers become industry leaders.
I was invited by Danielle Turchi Shannon, SHRM-CP to Miami to present to her firm-wide summer associates on How to Thrive. I placed Danielle when she was a recent college graduate at Hutton & Williams in 1998. She was a “rockstar” from day one and is now the Chief Talent Officer at Akerman LLP. Witnessing Danielle’s success and working with her for 27 years is what makes my work deeply fulfilling. Hearing about Danielle’s daughter’s first year at USC (where my son graduated 2 years ago), and how she will celebrate a milestone birthday brings me incredible joy!
This week I worked with Susie Elitzky, who invited me to present How to Make Time for Your Well-being to over 100 summer associates at Troutman Pepper Locke LLP. Susie and I met in 1999 when she was working for a San Francisco law firm. I placed her at Kirkland’s NY office and later at Dechert, where she spent almost a decade. We’ve stayed in close touch all these years, and I have watched her navigate her career with incredible grace. I love catching up with Susie at every opportunity possible whether it’s about work-related trends or travel advice.
Building trusted life-long relationships with clients is what makes my life fulfilling and rewarding.
I’ve been reading The Activator Advantage, which studied over 3,000 partners in law firms, accounting, consulting and executive search to identify the behaviors and habits that result in being a trusted advisor and rainmaker.
The behaviors that resonated with me included:

Moments when I get to see the incredible success candidates that I placed 25+ years ago have achieved are truly the most rewarding!
