How to Prepare Your Attorneys for a Very Early Recruiting Season

Never in my 29 years of conducting Interviewer Training for law firms have I been booked by five different law firms to present in January!

Winter of 2026 will now be the beginning of law student recruiting season for most law firms across the country.

It’s like a “Wild West” quest for talent, and firms will be making hiring decisions based on only one semester of grades. This makes the interview an even more important source of information to determine the best hiring decisions.

In addition, students will have a short time to decide on their offers, so teaching your attorneys how to “close” the candidates you want is even more critical.

More than ever, your attorneys must be well-prepared to conduct impactful interviews to stand out from their competition.

I have presented Interviewer Trainings for 94 law firms over the past 29 years. It’s one of my favorite programs to teach because hiring the right talent for your firm is critical to its future.

Do your attorneys have the skills to interview and sell to this next crop of law students, or do they need additional training to ensure they are engaged in the interview process, asking the right questions, and sharing valuable feedback to make the best decisions quickly?
